Who is the 1MORE Triple Driver for?

The 1MORE Triple Driver Headphones are designed for music-lovers first and foremost. The sound balancing is done chiefly with music in mind - everything from classical to EDM to heavy metal to epic instrumental just sounds beautiful through these headphones. They’re not as good for podcasts, audiobooks, and movies/TV shows, as they struggle a bit with the highs and lows of voices and cinematic sound effects.

One thing that immediately stood out to me was the luxury feel of the headphones. Everything from the beautifully designed, snug earpieces, to the sleek black Kevlar-wrapped cable and the leather carrying case. They’re built for people who care about their appearance and want a product as elegant as they are.

Design and Comfort

The design of the 1MORE Triple Driver In-Ear Headphones is exactly what you’d expect from a luxury product: a solid construction built to last, with a good weight that feels “right” sitting in your ears or clipped to your shirt.

Let’s start with the headphones:

1MORE Triple Driver In-Ear Headphones Review

The headphones themselves are built with a highly durable aluminium body and finished with a fingerprint-resistant gloss that will keep them looking sleek and shiny (even, I suspect, after years of regular use). Color choices include titanium with a silver trim or black with a gold trim—both very elegant-looking, though the gold is a bit too ostentatious for me.

The design is nicely ergonomic, with an oblique angled ear fitting that kept them sitting really nice and snug in my ears. Thanks to the eight accompanying sets of earbud tips, I was able to find the precise fit that helped to both cancel out the noise and keep the headphones securely in place for (literally) hours of listening.

The cable is made of enameled oxygen-free copper wire, which is pretty standard for most headphones, but covered with a Kevlar fiber wrapping that makes them very durable. To test it out for myself, I took a pair of scissors to the cable (gently, of course) and they left no mark or indentation at all.

What I didn’t love was the inline cable controls:

I didn’t love them for two reasons:

The placement. The control was quite high up on the cable and sat pretty close to my face. They’re also fully exposed if I get caught in heavy rain, so there’s no way to protect them from the elements—meaning there’s a good chance they could sustain damage and break faster than I’d like.

The lack of labeling. Notice how the inline control buttons are just smooth metal with no play/pause/rewind/forward symbols? That means to learn how to adjust the controls—or even to find out what the controls are capable of doing—I have to refer to the manual every time I forget.

Neither of these two are deal-breakers—they’re just little quibbles that bothered me enough that I thought them worth mentioning in this review.

Sound Quality

This is, of course, the part of the review that you - and I - really care about. After all, we buy headphones looking for beautiful quality sound as much as design and functionality.

The 1MORE Triple Driver In-Ear Headphones make a big claim that they’re “tuned by Grammy Award-Winning Sound Engineer Luca Bignardi, so you can hear music as the artist originally intended it to be heard”.

Inside the aluminium headphones body, there are two balanced armatures and one dynamic driver that are constructed for sound accuracy and unsurpassed dynamic power (1MORE’s claims, which I put to the test).

To get a feel for how the headphones truly performed across a wide range of audio, I listened to:

  • Epic Instrumental music (with great, swelling highs)
  • Live TV show (laugh track and “roomy” studio sound included)
  • Action movie (with big cinematic sounds and background effects)
  • Deep relaxation music (slow, deep beats and relaxing sounds of nature)
  • Dark Electro Cyberpunk EDM (with really intense lows and driving beats)
  • Bass-Heavy Trap (with sharper highs and truly deep lows)
  • Rock/Metal (grungy sound effects and intense vocal ranges)
  • Audiobook (voice only, no additional sound effects)

Over the course of listening to all this audio, I evaluated the five important elements I look for in a good pair of headphones:

Highs - The highs were a bit sharper/ harsher than I’d like. With the epic instrumental music, I had a hard time when the music swelled, especially brassy/ tinny instruments like trumpets or flutes. I listened to it at moderate volume, but it felt like the highs were “cutting into my ears”. Turning it down to lower volume sorted out the issue, but diminished the overall enjoyment of the “epic” feel of the music really cranked up.

Mids - The mids were excellent, well-balanced, and truly dynamic. For the rock/metal, deep relaxation music, and the trap, the headphones performed to perfection - even better than the over-the-ear headphones I’ve been using before (like my Sennheiser HD280 Pro or Mpow USB headphones). The resonance and sound quality were excellent, and delivered perfection.

Lows - The lows were where I felt the 1MORE Triple Driver Headphones really shone. I loved listening to the EDM, trap, and deep relaxation music because I could feel each beat to my gut. These headphones handle lows far better than any in-ear headphones I’ve found, and they really make for an amazing listening experience for deeper, bass-heavy music.

Voice/ Sound Effects - For the audiobook, the sound was crystal clear and incredibly well-balanced - due largely, I suspect, to the rich baritone of the narrator. For live TV, the background sound effects (laugh track) and roomy studio sound made the sound a bit harsher than I’d have liked, but for the action movie with its deeper sounds, they made the viewing experience much more enjoyable all-around.

Noise Reduction/ Cancelling - I thought the noise-cancelling effect of the headphones was well above average. Between the snug fit of the interchangeable earbud tips and the design of the headphones themselves, I heard very little ambient sound (cars passing by, clacking of my keyboard, my teenagers talking in the next room). I’m not certain the headphones could truly reduce/ cancel the noise of an airplane, train, or noisy bus, but they’re definitely good headphones to use around town.

1MORE Triple Driver Review Summary

If you’re a music lover and considering the 1MORE Triple Driver In-Ear Headphones, you’re definitely making a good choice. The headphones are built to last with a tough body and super-rugged cable, deliver excellent sound quality and clarity, though you might find the highs sharp, and in truth, amazing value for the under $100 (£72) price tag.

They’re best for music - especially music with really deep bass and heavy mid-range sounds - but they’ll perform well for just about any audio you listen to.
